NJV. Some abandon their faithful love by worshipping false gods,
Iatmul. Wudi’ki ko ka’ik savalaa mi’na mi’ni kwakladi.
wudi’ki = some people
ko = empty
ka’ik = breath
savalaa = they watch and
mi’na = your
mi’ni = sight
kwakladi = they leave
“false gods”/“lying vanities” comes from the Hebrew hableshaw (הבלישוא).
“idols”/ “vanities” comes from heh’bel (הבל) vapour, breath and “false”/“lying” comes from shawv (שוא) emptiness, vanity.
How do we get to ko ka’ik?
1. ko = empty, without reason, for fun.
2. ka’ik = picture, carving, shadow, guardian angel.
ka’ik has also acquired two additional meanings: television and photo.
Televisions – and by extension screens in general – are not evil in and of themselves. They are tools, and it is up to you and I to fill them with the Holy Spirit – and empty them of unholy ones.
KJV. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
Iatmul. Wudi’ki ko ka’ik savalaa mi’na mi’ni kwakladi.
